Rose Kindred-Boothby is a researcher, musician and instrument-maker based in Derbyshire. In 2024 her work in the field of electronic music was recognised with an Oram Award.
Her current work as a PhD researcher on the Amplification Project at Huddersfield University is around the potential for crafting electronic components for amplification.
Her instrument design work has included circuits with home-made resistors and capacitors as artworks, a modular synthesiser created for an abandoned industrial train station, and circuits playing with the tactile nature of copper. This work has been showcased at Arusha Gallery (London), Haarlem Artspace (Wirksworth) and ArcadeCampfa (Cardiff), among others.
As “The Silver Field”, she has had a number of music releases, including ‘Sing High! Sing Low!’, ‘Rooms’ and a split EP with Betwixt & Between Tapes. These have received press in The Guardian, Mojo and The Quietus among others, have had radio play and guest playlists on BBC 6Music and NTS, and have been toured extensively around the UK.
