Joe Armer is researching affect and cultural identity within sound system culture in the North of England. Alongside completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Bristol and Masters at KCL—Joe has enjoyed a varied career as a musician and peripatetic teacher, having performed at the London Jazz Festival, Pizza Express Dean St., Ronnie Scott’s, Ealing Jazz Festival, Glastonbury Festival, amongst countless other venues across the UK. Joe’s lifelong fascination with the affective influence amplification technologies have on the social, coupled with his commitment to decoloniality, orients his PhD research.
