Lawrence Davies researches histories of blues and jazz in international circulation, and the connections between music, sound, and environmental crisis. He has published in Jazz Research Journal, the Journal of Jazz Studies, Jazzforschung, and Music & Letters; he is also a contributor to Rereading Musicians and their Audiences: Popular Music Autobiographies (Bloomsbury, 2025) and the forthcoming Oxford History of Jazz in Europe. Before joining the Amplification Project, he was a Lecturer in Music at the University of Liverpool (2022-24), and a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow at Newcastle University (2019-22).
