Ivan Mouraviev is a musician and researcher focusing on popular music after 1970, specializing in electronic dance music and sound system cultures. His work explores questions of live performance, affect, space, and cultural theory through sonic and social methods. His recent PhD at the University of Bristol pursued these themes in the “bass culture” of Jamaican dub and the genres and DJs it informs. Forthcoming publications by Ivan will be in the Journal of Popular Music Studies and elsewhere, and he has additional interests in studying internet platforms and the streaming industry.
